Terms of Use

Acceptance of Terms

By using AZMap ("the site"), operated by Sonoran Strategy Solutions, LLC ("we", "us", "our"), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

Description of Service

AZMap is a free, experimental, informational map of extreme weather and related conditions in Arizona at azmap.live, including storms, lightning, wildfires, flooding, drought, air quality, and reservoir levels. It presents data published by government agencies, including USGS, NWS, NOAA, NASA, EPA, the National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC), and the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation (USBR), and by other providers such as Salt River Project, alongside curated news coverage and imagery on incident pages. It is a small independent project.

Not for Safety or Operational Use

AZMap is not an operational tool, a forecasting service, an alerting service, or emergency infrastructure. Do not use it to make any decision that could affect safety, life, health, property, or operations. That includes, for example, decisions about evacuation, sheltering, travel, aviation, navigation, recreation near water or fire, and emergency response. This list is illustrative, not exhaustive.

For weather warnings and official guidance, use the National Weather Service (weather.gov), local emergency management, and official evacuation channels. In an emergency, call 911.

Results and Accuracy

The site presents upstream data as published, and that data may be delayed, provisional, incomplete, unavailable, or wrong. Layers depend on upstream feeds that fail, lag, and revise without notice. Where the map shows tiers based on agency forecasts, those are republished agency products, not forecasts we make, and they can be stale.

Not a Government Site

AZMap is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or operated by any government agency. Agency names and links appear only to credit data sources and point to official products.

Intellectual Property

The datasets shown on the map belong to their respective publishers. Federal datasets are generally public information. Data from non-federal providers, such as Salt River Project, remains the property of those providers and is shown with attribution. Our presentation of the data, including the site's design, code, and original text, belongs to us. Personal, non-commercial use of the site is welcome.

News headlines, article excerpts, and photos on incident pages belong to their publishers and are shown with links to the original coverage. Embedded videos belong to their creators and platforms. Basemap data is provided by Mapbox and OpenStreetMap contributors under their own terms.

Third-Party Services and Content

Links to and excerpts from third-party coverage are provided for convenience. We do not control third-party sites or content, and linking does not imply endorsement or verification. Third-party content is the responsibility of its publisher. Publishers who would like their coverage or imagery removed from incident pages can contact us at the address below.

You may not:

  • interfere with or overload the site or its data services,
  • scrape at volumes that degrade the service,
  • misrepresent AZMap output as an official warning or government product, or
  • use the site in violation of law.

Programmatic access to the site's data endpoints may be rate-limited, changed, or blocked at any time without notice. We may restrict or block access to the site by any user or system at any time, for any reason.
